Mesmerizing mural, based on the design of a color test

The Bleeding Tomato

This mural you could probably categorize as Optical Art. After all it does have a similar hypnotic effect. Particularly if you look at it a bit longer. But aside from this first formal interpretation it certainly does concern an engaged artwork. By leaving out any readable numbers – which in the original design from 1917 were visible for the non-color blind – the work suggests that everyone who looks at this mural is colorblind. It’s no coincidence that for this version has been chosen to use the Dutch national color orange.
