As well as the major fashion shows, there are many other smaller fashion events that take place in cities all over the world. Fashion Week takes place twice a year, when designers show their collections to buyers, the press and the general public during a stunning, star-studded event on the catwalk. Internationally, the press talk about ‘’The Big Four’’, though this is more like five. The world’s leading cities for fashion are Milan, New York, Los Angeles, Paris, and London.
Arguably the most famous of them all, Milan Fashion Week is held semi-annually in February/March and September/October. Designers from Milan include Roberto Cavalli and Moschino; Italian fashion brands such as Gucci, Versace, Prada, Valentino and Armani have their headquarters in the city; and Milan is renowned for its upscale fashion district, the quadrilatero della moda and prestigious shopping streets.
